Yoga & Body-Mind-Life

As an experienced body-mind coach, trainer, teacher and innovator, I concentrate on the intersection of conscious movement, transformative practices, yoga, and effective action in a purpose-filled life.

In addition to teaching yoga, creating The Epic Workout, conducting pioneering Body-Mind Transformative Research, I have also worked with people including high-level exectives, serial entrepreneurs, PhD-seeking marathon runners, combat technicians, yogis, athletes, grandmothers, children, parents and more.

Writings

Read some of my writings and notes on Integral Fitness, Yoga, Meditation and more.

I have been involved in body-mind work since birth, of course, but more consciously beginning at age 8 when I began quasi-traditional martial arts. Since then, I’ve covered a lot of ground, including hand-to-hand combat, yoga, breathwork, energy practices, meditation, pranayama, kettlebells, therapy, corrective exercise, exercise coaching and personal training, freediving, surfing and other board sports, and more…

Cited for “pushing the boundaries of conventional fitness.” by Tyler, Sports Manager for a top Boston sports club, who said, “In my experience—from Sports, to torturing my body with weights, to now a much more natural and efficient and holistic approach—I think your thoughts on the future of fitness are quite visionary.”

Conscious Conditioning

You may have exercised, participated in sports, done yoga, seen a physical therapist and more. An integral approach to fitness holds all of these modalities together and offers a firm foundation for making the change you desire, experiencing fulfillment more frequently and loving life more fully.

The Epic Workout®
Conscious Conditioning. Yogic Warrior Conditioning. Created in 2007, Epic is the only current offer in the world I am aware of that delivers a full-spectrum approach to conscious movement (meditation, self-care, static and dynamic asana, functional training, primal movement patterns and more). The Epic Workout is excellent for yogis to explore movement with yogic awareness and benefits, and athletes desiring mindful ways of strength and conditioning. The Epic Workout is both amazing for yogis and a wonderful way to introduce conscious movement to many others. www.epicworkout.com

Yoga and Conscious Movement

Your yoga is individual and based on your life, your joints, your abilities, and where you want to go. My clients get valuable results and feel great because we work on what’s most important to them and create progressions to adapt to.

“Thanks, Alex, it was wonderful. I enjoy your clear instructions and how you also share your wisdom and make me think.”

Yoga Tune Up®
Yoga Tune Up® is Fitness Therapy for Everyday Living. This format accelerates and increases the healing benefits of Yoga by combining elements of yoga, calisthenics, body therapy, and stress reduction.  The poses, sequences & routines found in Yoga Tune Up® very quickly identify and strengthen ‘body blind spots’ - which are areas of the body that tend to get overused or underused and are typically the catalyst for pain and injury.  Yoga Tune Up® approaches the body as a living archaeological dig, probing layers of muscle, tendons, connective tissues and joints, ultimately excavating unhealthy tension patterns until your students are moved back into complete physiological balance.  www.yogatuneup.com

Hatha and Vinyasa Classes
My emphasis with hatha and vinyasa practices is on creating an optimal environment for healing, progressing, and more fully expressing and engaging body and mind. My practices include loads of information and education, pranayama, meditation, the use of sankalpa and more.

From Yang to Yin®
A format created and often co-taught by my wife and myself, From Yang to Yin span a full spectrum of strong, intelligently expressed asana and movement to deep Yin.

Yin yoga targets the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and spine. Gentle floor poses are hold for three to five minutes at a time with the muscles relaxed. Deeply held stress and tension are released, chi (energy) flow is harmonized and flexibility and alignment are improved. The mind and body become conditioned for longer periods of meditation.
